The Doobie Brothers are an American rock band formed in 1970 in San Jose, California. Blending rock, country, R&B and later blue-eyed soul, they became one of the most successful acts of the 1970s. With Tom Johnston's gritty vocals and guitar-driven boogie on early albums such as "Toulouse Street" and "The Captain and Me", and Michael McDonald's smoother soul sound on "Takin' It to the Streets" and "Minute by Minute", the band's evolution defined their era. Hits like "Listen to the Music", "Long Train Runnin'", "China Grove", "Black Water" and "What a Fool Believes" remain rock radio staples. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.
